Never stop learning

An effective lesson ENGAGES, CONNECTS, and EXPLORES an IDEA, ARTIST, SUBJECT, MEDIUM, or TECHNIQUE

An effective lesson is one that gives students the voice and creative liberty to express who they are. Students are always looking to connect things to their lives. I believe an effective lesson allows for connections, whether that be to their lives, community, subject matter, or an idea. Students want to explore what matters to them. They want to see ideas and thoughts explored through multiple disciplines in order to provide for depth and wonder. They want their art to mean something, to makes an impact.  In addition to connecting art to their lives I believe an effective lesson presents an artist, process, or medium.  Students want to succeed and experience a sense of accomplishment with what they are doing. I believe all of my lessons do just that. They allow for elements of wonder and connection. They explore a process, technique or artist with depth and creativity. I provided creative activities with the introduction of lessons in order to engage students and allow for dialogue and artistic inquiry.
