Art is a gift

I want to make a place in my own classroom one day that explores an artist and their work. I like the idea of an artist of the month where students could learn through interaction as well as activities. I would designate a bulletin board to this artist and somehow incorporate the artist into lessons or activities. I want my art room to inspire creativity, for me seeing and exploring artists have always inspired me. I think it’s important when you see a student working in a style similar to an artist to show them that person and get them familiar with were they fit in the history of art. Finding your place and being able to relate to an artist is important to understanding what you do as an artist. I collect artist books and would like to have a library in my classroom one day for student to use and explore and take ownership over their learning.
